This just in via Talking Points Memo and the Atlanta Constitution:
Asked how the victim was shot, McCollom says "The gun was in the bed, I went to move it. I put it to the side and then it went off."
McCollom then tells the dispatcher that he and the victim were both asleep when the gun went off. He also repeats later in the call that he was asleep when the weapon discharged.
McCollom is the Police Chief of Peachtree, GA, where his wife has been upgraded to fair condition. It is still a bit unclear whether she was shot once or twice by that malicious, department issued gun.
Call me stupid, but was he asleep when the gun discharged, or did he move it and then it discharged?
