My take on the debate: The online "polls" are useless, Bernie's support is mostly viral and he would be expected to take those self-selecting questions handily. The focus groups, however, are more telling - the networks tend to make those balanced and/or stacked with undecided voters, so Bernie taking those is very good. From a purely academic debate point of view, Hillary and Bernie were in a near tie, with each taking good points. Bernie won on Black Lives Matter, college and banking, while Hillary won on guns and most foreign policy and on taking on the GOP.
Bottom line, Hillary supporters think she won, Bernie supporters think he won and only scientific polls will tell if there is any movement in support either way. To me, Bernie won the hearts and minds contest with two major wins - his support of Hillary on the email non-controversy BS and Hillary's use of the gender card.
O'Malley showed himself to be good VP material for either candidate, while Chafee was pleasant but dull. Whiny Webb was WAY out of his league and needs to simply go home. Whatever time he was given was an utter waste.
The REAL winners in last night's debate? The American people and the Democratic party, who were provided a REAL debate between adults discussing issues and policies in stark contrast to the the "monkey's-throwing-poo" childishness of the GOP circus.
