At last week's debate, Hillary made (most) Democrats excited when she alluded to Republicans being the enemy she's most proud to have made in her political career. And it is true. For 25 years, they've called her a murderous lesbian socialist hellbent on destroying the country. They impeached her husband and now want to impeach her before she's even elected. They ran a 4.5 million dollar tax payer funded political hatchet job (aka congressional committee) while exploiting the death of 4 Americans in order to gain political points.
Yesterday, Vice President Joe Biden indirectly criticized Hillary for her very accurate portrayal of Republicans as enemies to the progressive agenda. He even went on to praise Dick Cheney.
One would think that Bernie Sanders, a man who has created an entire campaign on taking on the oligarchy in America, would recognize Hillary's point as having some merit. After all it is the Republican Presidents that appointed the justices who gave us Citizens United. It's the Republicans who are supported almost entirely by corporations and a handful of billionaires. Yet today when asked about the "enemy" line, Sanders said this:
We know how playing patty cakes with Republicans works out. Obama was naive in thinking he could just "bring everyone together" and Hillary knew that even in 2007.
Rachel Maddow had a great segment on her show the day after the debate highlighting why Hillary's approach should be welcome by Democrats and anyone who cares at all about getting something done in Washington.
