In case you didn't hear about it on Monday, Air France executives were forced to flee after union protesters stormed a meeting at HQ. I actually expected a generally large public backlash against the workers, but surprisingly there have been a much larger out pour of support than I thought. Here's some from MSN:
The real question here is did uppermanent get their bonuses for cost cutting? Did they walk away unscathed while the workers lose their jobs? That is what would and does happens in the US.

history is full of examples of societies rearranging the distribution of wealth. violence is how it is enforced. a natural dynamic. those who say violence is no solution usually have the most to loose.

Then you are taking bread out of the mouths of my family. If you are taking bread out of their mouths, you are trying to kill them. No one takes kindly to people trying to kill their families.

Please come here. Americans are meek and drugged in a stupor, and/or fondling their latest gun.

I love seeing expensive suits get ripped off greedy assholes.
But I don't expect it. French workers have a sense of solidarity that barely exists in the selfishness ethos of the US.

*In response to another saying that a similar event will happen in the US.
That last quote though, repeats something that is widely believed sadly:
"a sense of solidarity that barely exists in the selfishness ethos of the US."
Such defeatist attitudes are so widely held here by so many citizens, that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you don't think others will stand with you, you're not going to stand either. Yes, there is a layer of undeniable selfishness in this country, but I know there exists underneath a sense of solidarity. You agreeing with any of the comments above is proof that it does exists. If that's not enough to show the solidarity does exist, look up these events that happened since the end of the Reconstruction Era:
Colorado Coalfield War
Battle of Blair Mountain
Battle of Athens
African-American Civil Rights Movement (1954–68)
Wounded Knee Incident
Occupy Movement
Ferguson Unrest
2015 Baltimore Protests
These are just several examples. Though victory is not easy to come by, and failure is always a possibility, we can come together and unleash the best we've got upon the world! If we lose, we go down fighting tooth and nail, so that when we finally die we can proudly look back with no regrets and say we did our damnedest. It's always better to try and actively fight for a better future, than just assuming helplessness and do nothing believing there is "no point."
If you think I'm somehow overreacting, you likely won't be if things continue going the way they currently are:
273,000 union workers face pension cuts
The Government Is Watching #BlackLivesMatter, And It’s Not Okay
Trans-Pacific Partnership Is Reached, but Faces Scrutiny in Congress
The TPP has a provision many will love to hate: ISDS. What is it, and why does it matter?
Is Alabama trying to disenfranchise black voters?
Just to name a few.
