The coming Fox Business and WSJ Republican debate has the following criteria for
selecting candidates for the debates:
1. No limit on the number of candidates in the main debate
2. all candidates who polled at 2.5 percent or higher in four of the most recent national polls leading up the debate to participate in the main event.
3. Those who fail to earn 2.5 percent but have at least 1 percent support will be invited to participate in an earlier undercard debate.
This gives rise to an interesting scenario, if things fall in a certain way.
Right now, the national poll standings are:
Those above 2.5%
Trump
Carson
Rubio
Cruz
Bush
Fiorina
Huckabee
Paul
Those below 2.5% but above 1%
Kasich at 2.2%
Christie at 1.8%
Those below 1%
Graham at 0.8%
Jindal
Santorum
Pataki
It is a good bet that none of the bottom four will make it above 1% in the remaining few days. So, if Kasich has a few better polls that can take him above 2.5%, we will have the prospect of watching Chrispie debate himself at the kids' table. What will they do with that? Have Chrispie shout at a school teacher and then break the kids' table in half by sitting on it?!
If there are sufficient polls, then maybe Jethro will fall below the 2.5 mark so they will have a Jethro v Chrispie event at the kids' debate!
That would be great. Two state governors at the kids' table while the main debate will have at least 2 confirmed snake oil salesmen! Way to go, Republicans!
