Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, in this recent interview with Wolf Blitzer, is so on target that it’s almost painful:

And this new international initiative to seek a diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis, described by Kossack Mark Lippman, seems to be exactly what is needed:

This new understanding includes this key goal: “Da-esh [ISIS], and other terrorist groups, as designated by the U.N. Security Council, and further, as agreed by the participants, must be defeated.”
It is further stated that “This political process will be Syrian led and Syrian owned, and the Syrian people will decide the future of Syria.” In other words, ultimately the Syrian people will decide whether Assad stays or goes.
I am very proud of the Obama administration that, in conjunction with other permanent members of the UN Security Council, the EU, and many mid-eastern countries, has signed on to this initiative. The prospect of a truly international, UN-sponsored effort to contain and roll back the sociopathic Islamist militias in Syria/Iraq, accompanied by a diplomatic effort to reconstitute a democratic Syrian state, is extremely encouraging. Under these circumstances, if the U.S. wanted to contribute some “boots on the ground” to this effort, I could not object – though Bernie Sanders’ insistence that most of the ground troops needed come from neighboring countries is quite sensible.
