The folks at Cowspiracy.com are wondering why meat consumption and animal agriculture aren’t at the top of the agenda at this week’s climate conference. They cite a recent report showing the following:
- the livestock sector causes the same amount of emissions as all vehicles in the world
- global meat consumption is rising at unsustainable levels
- there’s low public awareness about animal agriculture’s impact on climate change
Advocates are using the #EarthToParis hashtag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram in a last-ditch effort to call attention to the cause.
Beginning today, world leaders from over 190 nations are meeting in Paris for the COP21 Paris Climate Conference to hopefully pass resolutions to combat climate change. The stakes couldn't be higher, but the outcome remains unclear.
