Living room view from the patio.
Talk about shit happening! Three days ago, an ember from Kossack
angel d's fireplace managed to coax the rest of her living room into burning into a fiery rage, with soot, smoke, and water damage permeating throughout the rest of her apartment. As you can imagine, it's almost a total loss. :(
Water damage.
Photos doused in water.
Thankfully, Angel, her two teenagers, and her pootie all made it out safely. Hallelujah, FSM!
But now, of course, Angel is essentially homeless and she and her family are sleeping on friends' couches and on a sailboat (!) until she can find other lodging. Angel's apartment management hasn't been exactly helpful or empathetic throughout her family's ordeal; they demanded that she pay November's rent, even though they have no other apartment to place her family in, and are already taking steps to find Angel negligent for the fire, even though it was ruled accidental.
It's a good thing corporations are people, eh? :/
Angel did contact the Red Cross, though, and they are helping where they can.
Angel is working a temp job through the end of next week, and then hopefully starts a permanent one shortly thereafter. So she is making enough to get by (barely), but she suddenly needs funds for first, last, and damage deposit for a new apartment, and the sooner the better.
She and her family live in the Seattle, WA area, where rent isn't exactly cheap or easy to come by.
If you have anything to spare, friends set up a GoFundMe page for Angel and her family. Every little bit helps towards her goal of $3000, and she's almost a third of the way there already!
Thanks so much!
