The Gimp has been a member here since 2005. He and his wife are wheelchair bound and his wife is an undocumented Canadian citizen — jokes in the comments, eh? (link to The Gimp’s diary below for more information). The Gimp’s wife has cancer and has had an operation, but she can’t get chemo without paying in advance; she needs three more rounds. The Gimp earns money by drawing with his mouth caricatures on the Vegas strip and terrific comic books (more on this later); he is unable to use his arms.
If you can donate, even a small amount, that would be great. We have an anonymous donor who will match the first $200 in kind, so please what you can .

Even if you cannot give at this time, click to see The Gimp’s wife’s gorgeous skin; I am pretty sure she did not tan on Clearwater beach in Florida back in the day using only baby oil, and yes, I regret it!
Now for the comics part! The Gimp’s first comic ended in quite a cliff-hanger! If you want to buy it, find your local comic store here: Comic Seller Locator. Then go there and ask for “A Voice in the Dark: Volume 1” by Larime Taylor, order number APR140534. The comic is dark, so not appropriate for children. You’ll probably have to pay in advance — comic stores don’t have a big margin and can’t afford to have comics they can’t sell. I got my ten copies recently and WOW! The Gimp’s wife did the coloring on the cover and it is fantastic. The setting is a college campus and there are a lot of female characters and they are quite believable. And it ends on a terrific cliffhanger!

Waxing philosophical (as much as I can), The Gimp reminds me sometimes of two fictional characters, Cyrano de Bergerac and Tyrion Lannister. All three seem determined that if anyone is going to remark on their disabilities, these bad boys will have the most witty, honed and edgy remarks in the room — always. I admire that.

The funds have been matched, but I am worried about the future. If what I remember is correct (and I do tend to get details wrong with memory, though the gist is often correct) The Gimp gets a motorized wheelchair but his wife, as an undocumented, does not. They travel by her holding onto his motorized chair. She blew out a tire recently which reduces their mobility, and that is an out-of-pocket expense. Ai-yi-yi! I worry.
