So today I was watching CNN as it was hosted by Deborah Feyerick. She was doing a story about Peyton Manning. Apparently a young man that worked in a clinic where Payton went for rehab after his neck surgery spread a story that Mt. Manning used growth hormone during that time. Peyton denied this and the young man has since said he spread a false story and his allegations about Peyton were not true. Peyton’s reaction to this was extremely angry that this story had ever even started as he has tried to be a good example for all who watch him play football.
This is where the story should have ended. However, then Rachel Nichols came on with her commentary. She talked about his reputation for honesty and ethics. All fine. Then she began bumping her gums about how we weren’t there to see everything and that other athletes protested mightily and then were found to have taken part in doping. She of course threw in that she was not talking about Peyton specifically but since we weren’t there every minute you know,,,,,,
This is why so many are angry at the media. A reporter takes a straight forward story and then adds innuendo and doubt in order to get ratings. Here Ms. Nichols takes a story about an honorable man that a false story was spread about and then tries to throw doubt about his story instead of being angered about the person who lied and admitted he lied bout Mr. Manning. She ought to be ashamed of herself. She has now cast doubt on her reputation as a journalist by trying to spice up her story.
We do not want scandal and innuendo from our news agents, we want facts. It is time this type of shoddy journalism was stopped and that journalists who take part in this type of behavior were shamed and fired. I could not believe how blatant her misuse of the news media was and I hope Mr. Manning thinks about suing her.
