In what is reported to be a Republican “pledge,” the GOP has blocked and/or tried to destroy hundreds of bills President Obama has proposed that would help the American people move forward. In his final two years, the president, through his actions, has pretty much said to hell with trying to please a party that has publicly stated their top goal is to see him fail, regardless of the cost to the citizens of the United States. Many can’t remember ever seeing a U.S. Commander in Chief treated with such flagrant disrespect—yet President Obama continues his walk with grace, intelligence, maturity and compassion for the people.
In a thoughtful speech on Christmas Day, President Obama told the troops :
"As we know, when you're deployed overseas, it's tough," Obama said Friday. He said th at although his administration has brought home troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, "there are still folks over there every single day and it's still dangerous, as we saw this past week, where we had some outstanding, brave men and women who were killed."
"So we never take for granted what all of you do for the American people," Obama said. "You help keep us free. You help keep us strong. Whatever service you're in, whatever branch, we are extraordinarily grateful for everything that you do every single day."
First Lady Michelle Obama took photos with the troops and their families while on the military base.
The White House reported President Obama also spent part of his Christmas Eve telephoning troops around the world to thank them and their families for their service.
Amazing president. Amazing First Family. Thank you, Mr. President.
