The Trial Balloon has been launched. With it, Hillary Clinton officially takes on income inequality and comes to the rescue of...Wall Street. Yes folks, the fig leaf has been removed. Hillary stakes her position as the staunchest defender of the horribly envied and overly vilified Wealthy.
With advice from more than 200 policy experts, Hillary Rodham Clinton is trying to answer what has emerged as a central question of her early presidential campaign strategy: how to address the anger about income inequality without overly vilifying the wealthy.
Let’s make this perfectly clear: This is a Conservative Republican talking point. It is the same old tried and true garden variety 'Class Warfare'
oatmeal served all day and night in Right Wing World. Making it 'Class Warfare Light' fits Hillary Clinton and her Wall Street Third Way junta like a glove.
Democrats don’t vilify wealth in general or the wealthy who have worked hard and played by the rules to achieve their riches. That is a straw man worthy of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity , ect, ect, ad nauseaum ad infinitum. Democrats are born and bred to go after those who have used their wealth and power to commit a 16 Trillion Dollar Fraud upon Working Class folks here in America and across the world. This is no minor quibble. Our anger is a righteous and justified anger. It is an anger that seeks justice, not revenge. Its seeks to punish criminal behavior, not mere wealth and status. To minimize and mock this anger this way is grounds for disqualification from leadership in the Democratic Party.
More, this time from one of the architects of the financial disaster:
It’s not enough to address upward mobility without addressing inequality,” said Lawrence H. Summers, a Treasury secretary in the Clinton administration who is among those talking with Mrs. Clinton. “The challenge, though, is to address inequality without embracing a politics of envy.
To the man I might call Grima Wormtongue if were not such an insult to Grima Wormtongue:
It is not envy that working families who struggle to make ends meet feel. It is a raw boned sense that the game is rigged and the likes of Larry Summers have helped with the rigging. That you would presume to offer solutions to a problem that you in large part helped cause is mind boggling for sure. But to offer as solutions virtually the same policies which caused the problem in the first place is a virtuoso of pure arrogance.
Senator Clinton, et al: You are Wrong. In your absolute and total Wrongness you reveal to us once and for all who you truly represent. Wall Street. All else is fluff. All else is Lucy putting down the football once again. This time I ain’t kickin’. Nope and Same vs. Batshit insane is not very appealing to your base voters, not to mention the Indies.
You can’t run away from Class Warfare because politics is Class Warfare...always has been and always will be. You are auditioning to be our General. The answer is not to mock our anger by calling it what it is not, Envy. The answer is to take this righteous anger of a truly aggrieved Middle Class America and harness it to the true principles of the Democratic Party, principles that once upon a time were espoused without equivocation. Fundamental core beliefs that were spoken with pride and conviction by a Class Warrior of the first order:
I believe in my heart that only our success can stir their ancient hope. They begin to know that here in America we are waging a great and successful war. It is not alone a war against want and destitution and economic demoralization. It is more than that; it is a war for the survival of democracy. We are fighting to save a great and precious form of government for ourselves and for the world.
I accept the commission you have tendered me. I join with you. I am enlisted for the duration of the war. FDR, 1936 Democratic Party Acceptance Speech
No focus groups, no trial balloons. Like Buford at Gettysburg, just hold the high ground.
The High Ground upon which our Democratic Party rests. The High Ground where Elizabeth Warren awaits your arrival.
