Please urge any of your friends and neighbors who will support our position on historical preservation on the Dix Hospital Campus in Raleigh, NC, to sign on and leave a comment. We are close to our initial goal of 500 names, and we have shared our petition with the White House and NC Representatives Price and Ellmers.
I was told by White House staff that it usually takes at least 6 weeks to get word from the Obama Administration about the President issuing a Proclamation. Meanwhile, we have to fight on a second front to keep the property intact until we hear from folks in Washington, D. C.

PETITION UPDATE
No vote yet on Dix by NC Council of State --still need 75 more signatures
I was told by White House staff that it usually takes at least 6 weeks to get word from the Obama Administration about the President issuing a Proclamation. Meanwhile, we have to fight on a second front to keep the property intact until we hear from folks in Washington, D. C.
The Governor of North Carolina gave his State of the State address to the NC General Assembly on Wednesday, which was televised statewide. Among McCrory's long wish list of issues, he highlighted the need for the NCGA to reinstate tax credits for historic preservation of buildings and sites. Also, McCrory traveled across the state with his Secretary of Cultural Resources to support reviving the tax credits.
Based on these recent events, I am trying to engage McCrory's Administration and the Governor's staff about the great opportunity right in the Governor's backyard for preserving a truly outstanding and unique historical property. I hope you, too, will make calls or email "governor.office@nc.gov" to lend your support to this effort as well.
I listed the contact numbers for the Council of State in an earlier update, and the Governor's office number is listed there. Thanks for helping with this effort.
