Colorado State Legislator Gordon Klingenschmitt is about as out there as they come in the Republican Party and that says plenty right there. Klingenschmitt is a former Navy chaplain who was given the boot for wearing his Navy uniform to a right-wing rally in violation of military regulations. Falsely claiming that he was court-martialed for merely saying the name Jesus in his prayers as a chaplain, he sued in Federal Court. Of course he lost, but not before becoming a cause célèbre to the religious right. He has since leveraged his schtick, becoming one of the fringiest of the fringe which managed to get him elected to state office in Colorado's blood red 15th district last November. They must be so proud today.

Last week, a brutal crime was committed in Longmont, Colorado. Responding to a Craigslist ad for baby clothes, Michelle Wilkins, who was 7 months pregnant at the time, was horrifically attacked. Dynel Lane beat Wilkins unconscious and then cut the fetus from her womb. Wilkins survived. The baby did not.
When Klingenschmitt isn't legislatin', he runs a little venture on the side. He ministers on a webcast called Pray In Jesus Name where he is prone to spout some of the most vile and outlandish garbage to come from the religious right. When he got hold of this tragic story, he helpfully pointed out that it was most certainly an event demonstrating God's wrath for legal abortion in America. Seriously.
Here's what the bible says in Hosea, chapter 13. There is a demonic spirit of murder. And we saw this in Israel where history records in Hosea 13 "The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open."
This was a prophecy about the people of Samaria back in the day who are bearing this sin because they have rebelled against their God. I wonder if there is prophetic significance to America today in that scripture. This is the curse of God upon America for our sin of not protecting innocent children in the womb and part of that curse for our rebellion against God as a nation is that our pregnant women are ripped open.
It's almost impossible to wrap ones mind around the callousness and idiocy on display here. His Republican colleagues couldn't
run away from Klingenschmitt fast enough, denouncing him and distancing themselves from his comments. But Klingenschmitt isn't
backing down. In an interview with Denver's KOA News Radio 850, Klingenschmitt insists that he is the real victim here.
If the government is now going to step into my church on Sunday and say 'oh, you're not allowed to do that because you are an elected official," he said, "I would ask people to take a step back and think about how the government should be protecting your freedom of worship on Sunday and maybe cut me a little slack.
He went on to boast that his charity had generously given a thousand dollar donation to the
Michelle Wilkins Fund. Yeah, that''ll do it, Gordon. Throw some money at it and all will be better.
Not going to happen. Posted at the top of the GoFundMe page for Michelle Wilkins, the following message was left.
Just wanted everyone to know:
Payment Refunded.
A refund of $1,000.00 has been issued for a payment made by Gordon Klingenschmitt for "Michelle Wilkins Fund (Longmont CO)". The money has been removed from your account: "Michelle Wilkins Trust Fund (Longmont CO)".

In Jen Hayden's diary Special needs student forced to remove letter jacket after parent complained he didn't earn it, Rich in PA had the perfect response.
From greenbird:
In a spam diary that has since been deleted, Huginn and Muninn gave us this fine snark.
From aoeu:
And from the same deleted spam diary, jwinIL14 posted some visual snark.
From Mopshell:
In Mother Mags' no-holds-barred, take-down diary She's back! Arizona legislator suggests church attendance should be mandatory, there are two comment threads deserving of recognition in Top Comments. The first begins with HugoDog's declaration of his preferred church of choice followed by a brilliant one-liner from ontheleftcoast. The second is a bitingly witty comment by thanatokephaloides which, fortunately for here4tehbeer's snot nozzle, took the necessary 5 seconds to register. Enjoy!
From Gwennedd:
I just have to nominate this hilarious cctv comment from here4tehbeer in this spam diary about security cameras.
From Mopshell again:
Hunter's fabulous diary America's Dumbest Congressman says he may run for president, no really plus all the comments, is laugh-out-loud funny but my favorite (and it was a very close thing with several other comments so read them all!) was this comment by BenderRodriguez and the two comments which followed.
From Denise Oliver Velez:
This comment by worldlotus in the reflective diary Racism, Professional Musicians, College Students, and...by mixed bag was a very moving statement about teaching children about racism.
From gharlane:
A bit late, but I just saw this comment by Wzrd1 from Tuesday this week.
Why? For sheer hilarity (at least for us astronomy/cosmology nerds :) )
From Steven Payne:
I'm nominating this quality comment by J Edward pulled from Gwennedd's great diary The Awesome Response to Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
