OK, so the new theory will be 'space bears'. Any questions?
One of the general rules of partisan faux-investigations undertaken solely for the purpose of goosing fundraising numbers is that your chief investigator should probably
not attend fundraising events based on the partisan faux-investigation lest people catch on to the fundraisey nature of your claims. Then again, conservative Republicans remain
impressively stupid.
[Chief Benghazi investigator Trey Gowdy] is scheduled to be the featured guest at a fundraising event March 19 for the Republican Party of Virginia, entitled, “Beyond Benghazi,” featuring a screening and an interview of Gowdy, moderated by Rep. Morgan Griffith. The RPV is charging $75 but for $5,000, a donor can be a co-chair.
See now, that doesn't sound like they're "beyond Benghazi" very much at all.
On the other hand, it should be noted that Gowdy's special committee "investigating" Benghazi has so far done precisely nothing, as far as anyone can tell, so he's probably attending mostly so he can pick the brains of audience members as to what theory he should have next. That is, after all, how every Benghazi theory so far has come into being—because a House Republican heard it from a crazy person and thought I should run with this—so maybe if we chipped in $5,000 we could get an audience with Trey Gowdy to tell him we are now quite certain super-intelligent space bears were involved.
