7NEWS Denver reports this morning that a date error is printed on the envelopes in which ballots were mailed to Denver voters for the coming Denver Municipal Elections.
The instruction on the outside of the envelope reads as shown beyond the orange twists and turns.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
1. This voted ballot must be received by the Denver Elections Division no later than 7 PM on Election Day, June 2, 2015, to be accepted. A ballot postmarked by 7 PM on Election Day, but not received, will be rejected.
2. The Affidavit of Voter must be signed if the ballot is to be accepted.
3. Voting more than once in the same election is a crime.
4. It is a violation of law to drop off more than 10 ballots other than your own in any election.
(emphasis added)
The problem is that Election Day for the ballots enclosed in the envelope is May 5, 2015. (If necessary, a run-off would be on June 2, 2015.)
The Denver Elections Division said the proof copy approved for the envelope contained the correct date, and that the Division would hold the contractor, ProVote Solutions, and its subcontractor, Cenveo, responsible for the error.
According to the Division's statement, dates on the ballot itself and voter instructions in the envelope reflect the correct date, and ballots must be received by 7 PM on May 5, 2015.
I would like to know to whom political contributions have been made by both the contractor and subcontractor. Call it curiosity on my part...
