F___ your breath. That is the best a trained, professional Police officer can come up with as the breath of life leaves a person's body altogether and they die? And why did he die? Because some elderly deputy? decided he wanted to turn in his vouchers for buying stuff for the police department and go on a sting operation. He didn't know his right hand from his left or his gun from a taser, but he wanted to be involved in the action instead of working as the CEO of an insurance company that day.
Why did he have a gun and a taser to begin with? Several real police officers had the subject down and contained. Then the deputy? says "I shot him, I'm sorry". No, no, no, you say your sorry when you bump into someone's shopping cart with yours. Not when you shoot someone in cold blood, who is on the ground being held down on his stomach with a real policeman's knee on his head and several others holding him down.
People who know me could say, well you're old too, so why are you talking like that? I will answer this way. I worked as a nurse from 1970 until I 2007. I placed my license on innactive status with the state when I retired. If I were to return to my profession there would be many hours of continuing education and inservice to complete, as well as shadowing and working supervised before I would be entrusted to care for patients, because I am out of practice and could potentially harm or even kill someone.
Their next argument would be to remind me that the suspect was commiting a criminal act. To which I would reply that he would have been presumed innocent until his case went through the court system per our Constitution. I know the same can be said for the 73 year old shooter, even though the video and audio of him saying I shot him exist. He will be afforded due process.
Lastly I would like to say that almost everyone I know has young people who they love more than life it's self. They are not yet grown and I pray they are never on the wrong side of the law or even misidentified. But if they ever are I don't want anyone in law enforcement to become their judge, jury and executioner.
