April 9, 2015: The front page of the LA Times ran a story with the headline,
"Scientology head's dad was spied on, police report says." If you subscribe to
Mike Rinder's blog, "Something Can Be Done About It," you got the news yesterday: "The End of the Road for David Miscavige."
I've been paranoid, but this is insane. Just a note, referring to the head of a church as Chairman of the Board, seems ridiculous. Tom Cruise loves referring to his best friend as "COB," Miscavige's nickname.
The LA Times reported that $10,000 a week went from a intermediatory of the church to the two detectives for 18 months. Nice work if you can get it. There are skills required, however: eavesdropping, spying on emails, planting a GPS unit on a car, and searching the target's garbage.
Sounds like the NSA.
Daddy's crime? "Miscavige feared that his father would divulge too much about the organization's activities." According to the documentary, "Going Clear," "the organization's activities" might possibly fill as many volumes as L. Ron Hubbard and the church have published combined.
The LA Times article goes on to state,
Once, while tailing Miscavige on a shopping trip, Powell and his partner watched him grasp his chest and slump over while loading his car. After his arrest, Powell told police he'd thought Miscavige was having a heart attack and might die. He said he phoned his intermediary for instructions.
Two minutes later a man who identified himself as David Miscavige called him back, according to records.
"David told him that if it was Ron's time to die, to let him die and not intervene in any way," the records state, noting that the apparent emergency passed "and nothing further happened."
Harsh.
Mike Rinder reports,
And to this day Ron Miscavige, Sr. has said NOTHING about his son or scientology publicly. So his sociopathic son cannot claim that he is a “church attacker” and “trying to destroy our religion.” No, it’s clear for all to see that David Miscavige is driven purely by fear and vindictiveness.
Both of these articles are definitely worth the read. This diary cannot begin to tell the whole story.
Update: Even more information on this is available on Tony Ortega's blog, The Underground Bunker. Marc Headley worked at Scientology headquarters for 15 years. He is quoted in the main article with more information in the comments. David Miscavige considered all Scientology funds personally his. Therefore Miscavige himself approved EVERY expenditure the church made. Many more jaw-dropping tidbits found in the comments section.
