The New York Times reports that David Wildstein, Chris Christie's high-school buddy and political appointee, is scheduled to plead guilty to ordering the closing of three lanes on to the George Washington Bridge in September, 2013. Ostensibly for a "traffic study" (that lasted 3 days), it and caused a major traffic tie-up in the city of Fort Lee. It has been widely assumed that the lane-closing was payback by Christie for the city's mayor's not endorsing Governor Christie's reelection bid. This plea comes 16 months into the investigation.
The U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Paul J. Fishman, said he would hold a news conference at 1 p.m., EDT.
Can Christie's anemic presidential bid become even less probable?
