Trust the folks at Politico to bring us the most important news. I mean big, shocking stories.
Like this one. BREAKING: There are trolls on Twitter and some of them troll Hillary Clinton.
Mind blown, right? Who ever would have thought that no matter how innocuous a thing was tweeted on Clinton's account, there would be people who responded with insults about her appearance, Vince Foster references, and even super-clever stuff like "Hitlary."
Clinton has 3.5 million followers, while the Republican presidential candidate with the most followers is Marco Rubio at 736,000. Politico's Annie Karni acknowledges that:
Her large Twitter following is, on the whole, an advantage for Clinton, who can exert more control over her own message and image: a recent picture of Clinton in Iowa was retweeted 251 times and favorited by 561 Twitter users. In contrast, a recent picture of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie campaigning in New Hampshire with his wife, Mary Pat, was retweeted once and favorited three times.
"But," Karni continues, "that formidable footprint comes with a price." Ostensibly the price is that trolls will be trolls. But reading the article's recitation of insults that were probably read by about three people apiece in their original tweeted form, it seems more like the price of the footprint is bullshit articles like this.
