what? why would a genuine 1% ever want to put himself in that fishbowl called the presidential primary much less take the what can only be a very severe cut in pay as president? The only potential answers I have so far are, he's not a real 1%, more like just a pop star 1%, a manufactured icon, one that seemed to conveniently replace the Beatle after he was dispatched on a dark night in NYC a few years back. Or, the Trumpster just doesn't know who he really is, these have a ring of truth but in the end are doubtful.
He's already got his personal jet(s), staff, girls, prestige, oh let's just say it, money, and all the connections of money, the trappings of money, did I mention money?
His message so far has been kind of populist, make america great again, restore her, save her from those that are picking her clean through bad trade deals, sounds good. Does he have the bonafides to pull it off? I mean besides the art of the deal?
Well, he certainly knows the lay of the land, globally and all, he could be president, though I don't see him suddenly having his schedules made for him, I don't see him responding well when the republican party comes and tells him what he's really running on, not his own ideas, but the party's and the corporate structures that own this party, and the other one too, for that matter.
The Donald brings a certain something that's so far been missing from this fledgling primary season, some personality, some joy and fun. And maybe, he genuinely sees a chance to be competent in this job, to do things that could actually help America find her way again, and not just for wall street, but for a bunch of us out here.
But, he would soon find that events rule the day, he will be reacting to the global things handed to him, you can see these things being set up now, conflict with Russia, needless conflict, a few acronyms, ISIS, OPEC, NSA, GITMO, etc., M.E., ACA. And of course the special interests that have skin in all those games.
He is an outsider, I'm going to hear him out, but in the end my cynicism will convince me that he can want all he wants, but he will too will bow to the pressures that run our government, I just can't get past, yet, that he just might be someone who could change the course if he really wanted to, if that's what he really wants, is it?
Or maybe he just sees winning the POTUS as low hanging fruit especially this cycle, 2016. I wouldn't disregard Trump too soon, he sure understand media and TV and knows how to make people pay attention to him.
