Tony Perkins of the FRC has responded to the Charleston terrorist attack by attacking Obama's response to the event. He says that Americans no longer know what hate is, and that the President is inflaming it with his rhetoric. This seems rather ironic coming from a hate group leader. His words follow:
"Sadly, Americans no longer have a concept of what true hatred is. Thanks to the twisted distortions of the Left, the very meaning of the word has been diluted from what it really is -- animating senseless murder and violence -- to political dissent. This is hatred -- gunning down men and women in cold blood -- not the act of disagreeing over moral views. Liberals fail to see the difference, instead recklessly labeling opponents 'hateful' simply for believing differently than they do. Hate is what motivates men like this to slaughter innocent people. It's what drives such a disrespect for humanity that men like Floyd Corkins can walk into FRC with the intent to kill as many people as possible. While the White House bemoans our culture of animosity, it continues to inflame it through policies that accelerate moral decline and family breakdown. But instead of recognizing the root cause of moral breakdown, it blames the violence on a familiar scapegoat: gun control." - Hate group leader Tony Perkins, via press release.

And, Sandy Rios of the American Family Association also criticized Obama's response saying that she thinks he 'enjoys' these incidents because it gives him an excuse to push legislation to take guns away from Americans. He certainly does not look like he enjoys it to me. I see pain and grief in his face when I see him speak of these heinous incidents/mass killings.
From Right Wing Watch:
Sandy Rios, the American Family Association’s director of governmental affairs, attacked President Obama today for his response to the Charleston shooting, which she said is proof that he “enjoys” such incidents because it will give him another chance to “remove guns from the hands of the American people.”
Unlike the family members of the victims who offered messages of forgiveness, Rios said, “there are other people who seem to respond and fester and enjoy these problems and make the most of them, and I would include president of the United States, this of course he took as an opportunity to lay out his passion against allowing American people to carry guns.”
She accused Obama of “rushing” to link the shooting to weak gun laws, adding that “all the tragedies remind him that he wants to stop American people from having guns.
