Please forgive me for making this suggestion, for it truly is one person’s opinion.
I have long felt that Chuckles Todd is the wrong person to host Meet the Press, for many reasons. Many DailyKos readers have expressed similar feelings and, in my limited understanding, I have yet to encounter anyone with true praise for Todd and the work he is doing on MTP.
Now, NBC chose to retain Brian Williams, and place him in MSNBC and Breaking News stories. My take on this is that NBC chose not to let Brian out of his contract because other networks would try to pick him up in a New York minute.
[Follow the yellow whatchamacallit...]
NBC would be doing us all a service by putting Brian Williams in charge of MTP. He is intelligent, asks truly insightful questions and can counter quickly if his BS detector goes off, fully understands politics, and is well read and educated about what is going on in the world around us all.
Yes, he supposedly had some problems with his veracity in the past. However, I doubt that he would make any such mistakes going forward.
[May I also add that if the chopper in front of yours is taken down by missile fire, and your pilot brings you to the ground in a heartbeat to avoid getting shot out of the sky too, then it is acceptable to say what Williams said about being in the chopper shot down. At the time of the shoot-down, there was truly very little difference between the two, and fear makes people's memories foggy, at best, especially when facing death by high explosives, while riding the air currents.]
Brian Williams deserves better treatment than he was given by the people at NBC and we all deserve a better moderator on MTP than Chuckles, the Clown.
Again, this is just my humble opinion.
