The Fire crews battle a massive fire in an area east of North Wenatchee Avenue. Firefighters are concerned about a fertilizer tank and ammonia tanks getting caught in the blaze. Early responders said a compressed cardboard facility near SavMart appeared to be the origin of the fire, which was behind that store and Les Schwab Tire Store. There are fruit packing plants in the area of the fire. Whether they are threatened remains unknown. In addition, firefighters are now responding to a structure fire near the Sen. George Sellar bridge on the Wenatchee side.

12:15 a.m. Monday night Wenactchee a small Central WA city of approximately 32,000 is on fire.

It is unclear if this was caused by an earlier grass fire that was presumably started by lightening strikes. The area is desperately dry and yesterdays temp was 109 F. There are also additional lightening caused forest fires in the area. More lightening is forecast for later today.
Update: 3:15 AM Radio is reporting that much of downtown is on fire and that the firefighters say they have never seen anything go up like this. They are reporting wind gusts to 50 mph.
