Good morning Kossacks far and wide! I'm here to make sure my boyfriend is well funded so he can take me to fine restaurants, opera and the theatre in NYC. It can get expensive, if you get my drift. While the blogathon is all about eric (har!) he's told me that he is only happy when I am happy.
Well, let me tell you a bit about how eric and I fell in love. It has been several years now but he encouraged me to go to a NYC meetup because he was so enthralled with my writing and wit that he was desperate to meet me. Ok, first I thought it was a bit creepy, but, what the hey -- there would be a crowd and I'm a black belt in dim sum.
As I remember, it was a steamy day and the joint where the meeting is held gets packed so I dressed lightly. eric said he was going to bring me a surprise. Wow! Pushy, but I'm always game for gifts. Now remember, neither of us thought I looked like a chinchilla and he looked like Ollie so our DKos avatars were no help. But, lo and behold, there he was, across a crowded room, with one of his drawings on an easel.
I slipped my little jacket off, the crowd parted and everyone looked on in wonder. MBNYC just barely got this shot of our first intimate moment.
eric has shaved and grown about 8 inches and looks a hell of a lot handsomer since that picture was taken. I still look pretty much the same.
Ok, so that original of a cover for The New Yorker wasn't actually his gift (cheap bastert) but this actually was:
Not the cat -- that's Roger, nor the very lovely speaker, that's mine but the something something ink drawing of Animal Nuz #100. It is signed with a heart on it!!!!!!!!! It hangs in my little all purpose space of music and books and a futon where I am right now and all I have to do is turn my head and there it is -- every day.
I guess I don't have to tell you, our romance blossomed. We were meant to be together -- and apart. I really can only stand company for about 2 days max and then I want to be alone with Roger the Cat. Our only lengthy vacation was when he took me to Siberia. Plane tickets were cheap but damn -- 6 months waiting for a plow was a bummer.
There were potatoes in the root cellar so I made enough vodka to get us through.
Then he thought it would be a better idea for a short trip for bird watching so, on what he promised would be a lovely October day three years ago, we headed out to the Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn. Apparently he has never heard of NOAA and superstorms. I had been busy with my personal trainer and eyebrow waxing so I sort of missed what the entire world already knew: a chick named Sandy would bollox up our subway ride. The only bird we saw was this falcon.
Ok, so we decided that maybe attempts at "vacations" together weren't a good idea along with keeping company for more than 36 hours so we moved on to one of our shared interests: Serial killer fiction. Apparently he has better inside info about all that even though I have finally finished my masterpiece to be published next month. Of course, I pried stuff out of his brain for my own editing purposes, thought about the millions I'll be making and does he love me for my mind, money or perfect body? Who cares, right?
You can help make this love story an everlasting one by donating to our very own resident cartoonist (artist par excellence) and free both of us up for a lovely meal at the Shake Shack.
Thanks so much for reading and supporting a really great guy who contributes every day to make DKos a great place.
There are a variety of great Animal Nuz products available at the brand new Animal Nuz Cafe Press Store, from mugs to T-Shirts to pillows to magnets to Dog and Cat food bowls and more...
Daily Kos member and Artist, asterkitty, has made a lovely offer
She has four animal still life paintings for sale at her site here, left side of that page (Lavender Rabbit,Bright Green Seal, Yellow Elephant, Rabbit's Feet) . She is offering to donate 1/3 of the sale price of any of these four to Eric for this fundraiser. (If a $535 painting sells, Eric would receive $175; if a $350 painting sells, Eric would receive $117).
