You may have come across this article recently: http://www.ucsusa.org/... uncovering evidence to show that fossil fuel companies knew as far back as 1982 that their products & activities were warming the climate. Rather than putting their energy into finding ways to make their product less polluting & carbon emitting or finding cleaner substitutes for their products, they decided to put out misleading information in order to deceive the public, delay or prevent any meaningful government action, & prolong the time & maximize the amount of fossil fuels we’d be using.
So how have you reacted to this news? Shock? Many of us already knew in our hearts that they’ve known exactly what was happening & were putting on an extravagant campaign of dispersing disinformation & sending internet trolls to disseminate their lies along with bought stooges masquerading as scientific experts to deny climate in journal articles & to TV reporters. This just confirms what we already knew. Yeah, the tobacco industry did the same & they killed millions of people & cost society billions in the process, so what's new? Since the revelations tobacco companies have suffered some public reprobation, greater curtailment of the use of their products here & there, & perhaps some fines, but nothing proportionate to the immensity of the damage they caused. But even what they did is dwarfed by what the fossil fuel companies have done to us. As a result of unbridled greed & this callous indifference to the future of humanity & of all life, more humans/species have already been & are doomed to be exterminated through the burning of these fuels from Hell than any other act that man has ever committed, & the world is on the precipice of a process that will lead to the extinction of the majority of species on Earth, including man. Yet will the fossil fuel companies face any consequences for conspiring to commit the most egregious crime in history?
