Browsing through the Bill O'Reilly proclaimed "hate site" aka Salon this morning, I came across an article relating to the latest rant from RW religious nut case Franklin Graham regarding the Chattanooga shootings. His comforting message to our nation was this:
“Four innocent Marines (United States Marine Corps) killed and three others wounded in #Chattanooga yesterday including a policeman and another Marine — all by a radical Muslim whose family was allowed to immigrate to this country from Kuwait. We are under attack by Muslims at home and abroad. We should stop all immigration of Muslims to the U.S. until this threat with Islam has been settled. Every Muslim that comes into this country has the potential to be radicalized — and they do their killing to honor their religion and Muhammad. During World War 2, we didn’t allow Japanese to immigrate to America, nor did we allow Germans. Why are we allowing Muslims now? Do you agree? Let your Congressman know that we’ve got to put a stop to this and close the flood gates.”
I think anyone who is even slightly familiar with Franklin Graham already knows that he is a raging homophobe, xenophobe, and probably huge disappointment to his famous father. Really good article on the exploits of Mr. Graham.
I remember shaking my head and thinking....."wow, he'll probably call for internment camps next......"
..but it just so happened that several minutes later, I came across another article at TPM that had a politician actually calling for Internment Camps, yes really.
Unfortunately the person calling for the camps wasn't a crazy right wing religious nut bag...it was former Democratic Presidential contender Wesley Clark. I had to rub my eyes at this point.
In an appearance on MSNBC to discuss the shootings at Chattanooga military sites, the retired general and former Democratic candidate for president said we should be dealing with “disloyal” American citizens who’ve been “radicalized” the same way the U.S. did during World War II – and called on allies to do the same.“In World War II, if someone supported Nazi Germany at the expense of the United States, we didn’t say that was freedom of speech, we put them in a camp, they were prisoners of war,” Clark said.He also said: “If these people are radicalized and they don’t support the United States and they are disloyal to the United States as a matter of principle, fine. It’s their right and it’s our right and obligation to segregate them from the normal community for the duration of the conflict.”
I haven't kept up with Wesley over the years, but I think one could safely presume that he isn't a Democrat anymore and most likely never was. I wonder if Wesley has figured out who is going to be judging the radicalized among us? Radicals want to know. Also wondering how he feels about radicalized Christians/KKK/Neo-Nazi members?
