Millions of people across the world are outraged by the actions of a rich dentist who obviously believes animal poaching laws don't apply to him and his money. After the squiggle, read the defenses this criminal poacher would have us believe:
He had no knowledge that a protected lion was being lured outside its home range with an animal carcass attached to the top of the car he was riding in.
He was assured that all legal permits for the 'hunt' were obtained, but saw no need to examine them himself.
In 'tracking' the wounded Cecil after his arrow only wounded the lion, neither he nor the lion ever trespassed into the protected park sanctuary, the home (and pride) from which Cecil was illegally lured.
When the tagging collar was removed from Cecil's dead body, there was an attempt to hide it. Walter Palmer claims he knew nothing about this, though he was with his guides and standing close to Cecil's dead body, admiring his 'fish-in-the-barrel 'kill.'
Palmer ignores his established past history of illegally taking a protected black bear, then lying to Federal officials about it, as if it has nothing to do with this new and much more escalated case of illegally taking a beloved and very endangered lion.
Then the cowardly Palmer goes into hiding, rather than having the ethics to stand up and face the consequences of his act, which has deprived scientists studying Cecil of important knowledge and deprived Zimbabwe of millions in revenue from tourists who visit the impoverished country to see this world-famous lion.
What is the psychology of this alleged 'hunter'?
I hope the FBI tracks him down and extradites him to Zimbabwe. Palmer may have deprived the world of Cecil, but the world will now deprive him of his 'normal' life for whatever time is left for him.
