2016 Interior and Environment bill (House - Appropriations Committee Report: H. Rept. 114-170) is currently pending final vote on the House floor while further action remains to be seen from the Senate. Democrats have repeated calls to block appropriations bills that adhere to sequester-level spending limits. In a point-by-point document from EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT; OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET on June 23rd the Administration has reiterated its veto threat.
Betty McCollom [MN-4] Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies minority Ranking Member managed floor action for the fight to keep GOP floor amendments from further de-fanging Endangered Species Act, slashing more funding that in some cases is already proposed back to 2005 inflation-adjusted levels and many other public protections. She was helped by her subcommittee colleague, Chellie Pingree [ME-1].
Raúl Grijalva [AZ-3] at 01:23:05 yesterday worked to defeat GOP cuts for work on how slow and to mitigate the devastation of mountain top removal and then dumping into the mountain valleys material that causes increases in lung cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, birth defects and hypertension in local residents.
John Garamendi [CA-3] spoke eloquently yesterday at 05:44:50 for strong defense against GOP denials of money to protect against: the rising Social Cost of Carbon (SCC); rising Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions; rising Sea Levels; and their consequences for victims of poverty, many main ideas of which are found in Laudato si' (24 May 2015) Encyclical Letter by Pope Francis “On Care for Our Common Home”. Garamendi later continued prominent work to defeat GOP strategies including his effort to defend the California Water Code actions in statewide drought responses. His performances yesterday are worth watching!
