This is not a happy diary, so if you're looking for something light-weight, you might want to pass this one by.
Don't mind me.. I am feeling morbid and depressed tonight.
If this question/poll seem too serious, or too depressing, I will take the diary down.
I just looked up the latest top 10 causes of death in the United States (As of 2013) and they are the following:
Heart disease: 611,105
Cancer: 584,881
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 149,205
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 130,557
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 128,978
Alzheimer's disease: 84,767
Diabetes: 75,578
Influenza and Pneumonia: 56,979
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 47,112
Intentional self-harm (suicide): 41,149
More after the orange doo-dad.
So...let's see. I've had a heart attack, so I qualify for # 1. Cancer, so far I am clear of. I have respiratory disease...let's hear it for emphysema! Accidents...well, who knows? Stroke...well...I've DVT and am at high-risk for strokes, but so far so good...Alzheimers, well it runs in the family but the way it is looking something will knock me out before Alzheimers has the chance to make significant in-roads...Diabetes....yea, got that...Influenza/Pneumonia, well so far so good in avoidance..Kidney disease well, I do have the diabetes so there is that risk and the stones keep showing up, so who knows? And suicide? Well thats right out. Digestive/Crohn's does not make the top 10, so I guess I am OK there..whew.
So..I am one hot mess.
When I was younger, so much younger than today I used to drink too much, smoke too much, and exercise too little. That and some seriously screwed up genes set me up well for adulthood. :)
So anyway...
Have you ever looked at the top 10 list? Am I being excessively morbid here? Should I get a new hobby?
