Happy Weekend! Before we get into the solar eclipse, just a heads up to those in the northern latitudes, such as Wisconsin and Washington state. According to spaceweather.com:
During the early hours of Sept. 11th, a high-speed solar wind stream hit Earth's magnetic field. The impact sparked a strong (Kp=7) geomagnetic storm and Northern Lights in the USA as far south as Wisconsin and Washington State.
Check out some great pictures
here and
here.
Even better, if you live in the far north of the US or Canada or Northern Europe or Northern Russia, Siberia, etc. and you're still up when this posts, go outside.
More breathtaking auroras could appear tonight. NOAA forecasters estimate a 55% chance of geomagnetic storms on Sept. 11-12 as the solar wind continues to blow.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group gives Kossacks a safe place to check in, a daily diary where we can let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, earthquakes, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It also allows us to find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, earthquakes etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a Kosmail and ask to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
We do have a diary schedule. But, when you are ready to write that diary, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMOM a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FloridaSNMOM is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

Tonight (Sept. 12 at 11:41p PDT) a partial solar eclipse is happening. Unfortunately for most of us on Earth, it will only be visible from Southern Africa, Madagascar and the Antarctic.
Join me below the orange curlicue for more on the eclipse.
Solar eclipses always occur at the New Moon when the Moon gets between the Earth and the Sun. When the Moon only partially eclipses the Sun, the eclipse is visible only from the polar regions on Earth. This link has a great explanation of solar eclipses.
Eclipses are all about letting go of and leaving behind what no longer works for us in our lives. It's worth noting and writing down information you receive at this time, things that come to your attention and people who show up in your life.
This solar eclipse is at the Virgo New Moon at 10 arc minutes past 20 degrees of Virgo. Where it will show up in your life depends on where Virgo is in your chart. For example, Virgo is in my 12th house - the house of institutions such as prisons and hospitals. Places where your freedom is restricted. It is also the house where one keeps one's secrets secret from no one except oneself. It's the secret everyone knows about you except for you. It's opposite Pisces in my 6th house of work. Yesterday, I found out the Census Bureau has been overpaying my hourly rate by about 25%. It was obvious looking back, but I chose not to see it. Now they want their money back. I guess I'll have to let go of it. They said they would send me a bill. ;)
Pay attention to the things that show up now. They will be activated by Mars and Venus' transit over 21 degrees of Virgo in late October. Jupiter, the planet of expansion, brings things that show up now to your doors of perception in November, February 2016 and for the last time in July 2016. If you are a Virgo or a Pisces or have a Virgo or Pisces Moon or ascendant, the energy of this eclipse may affect you more radically than a simple payroll snafu. And this may be true of Sagittarians and Geminis - Suns, Moons and ascendants. People most affected by this will have their Sun, Moon or ascendant in a mutable sign and at any degree from 15 to 25. If this eclipse falls within 5 days of your birthday, this energy will be front and center for your entire birthday year.
Remember that the eclipse is on a New Moon. Whatever you are forced to let go of will be replaced by seeds planted now and be ready for expansion first in November, then in February 2016 and again in July of 2016. This eclipse energy is fluid and mobile. Try not to hold on to whatever needs to go and attempt to embrace the new. It will serve you better down the road.
Please check in below. And if you'd like to share, tell us what you've had to let go of recently.
Oh, and Mercury goes retrograde on September 17th. See my diary here for an explanation of Mercury retrograde and planting at the New Moon.
