Let's focus on what's important. US elections? Reasonably important. European refugee crisis? Actually incredibly important but also depressing. Kim Davis? She's just a silly lady from Kentucky who is about to have a bad case of the Mondays.
Do any of those news stories affect the entire universe? Do they affect the time space continuum?? I don't think so.
In the greatest news story of our time, Variety is reporting that Alex Kingston will be reprising her role as River Song for this year's Doctor Who Christmas special.
We finally get to see River get an age appropriate Doctor. No more will adorable but adolescent looking Matt Smith be flummoxed by the physical overbearance of River and her considerable presence.
Imagine Peter Capaldi sparring with Alex Kingston! I can only begin to imagine the fireworks between those two.
I absolutely. Can not. Wait.
Now, last we saw River, she was a ghost. And first we saw River, she died. And River and the Doctor's timelines are reversed, so that at either end of their relationship, one doesn't remember the other. For one, they haven't met, while for the other, they have been married for a very long time.
It's one of the greatest romantic tragedies in modern television history. Please speculate as to how River is going to make her appearance at Christmas. I, for one, will be very angry if we get to see River and she doesn't know who the Doctor is.
That will not give me a Merry Christmas, so Steven Moffat (did I mention he's writing the Christmas episode???!!) better not disappoint.
