Bring it, Roger.
(Eye roll, please) The Donald, Roger Ailes, and Fox News execs are reportedly set to meet next week to resolve their "differences," according to
a statement from Fox:
"Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes and Donald Trump spoke this morning and plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox's coverage of Mr. Trump's presidential campaign. Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives. Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. FOX News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage."
Isn't that cute? They think they've held the candidates to "the highest journalistic standards." Trump, of course, feels wronged, as he
made clear Wednesday when he said (once again) he would boycott the station moving forward. Honestly, does anyone have thinner skin than Donald Trump? Not to sympathize with Fox, but really, Trump will never be happy until they create a completely separate channel devoted to his polling and obvious good looks. On the other hand, there's nothing more fun than watching Roger Ailes bow to Trump's every wish because he can't afford to lose the ratings. It's just hard to know who to root for in this Darth Vader-esque millionaire v. billionaire showdown. Maybe Cheney can referee.
Blast from the Past. At Daily Kos on this date in 2011—House passes stopgap government funding bill:
By a vote of 219-203, the House just voted to pass a temporary funding bill that will keep the federal government in operation through November 18. Twenty-four Republicans voted nay and six Democrats voted aye.
Earlier today, Joan McCarter posted a good background primer on this vote, necessitated by a tea party revolt on John Boehner's right flank. A cadre of 50 of the most dystopian members of the GOP, who insisted (as they always do) that the stopgap spending bill did not cut enough, joined with Democrats to tank the legislation — much like a similar rebellion derailed Boehner's first gambit during the debt ceiling negotiations. Republicans didn't change much in this bill before the second vote, so it's not clear yet how Boehner managed to obtain a different result, but so he did.
And now we have another showdown with the Senate. Harry Reid:
"It fails to provide the relief that our fellow Americans need as they struggle to rebuild their lives in the wake of floods, wildfires and hurricanes, and it will be rejected by the Senate," said the Nevada Democrat, warning the Federal Emergency Management Agency could "run out of money as soon as Monday." |

today's Kagro in the Morning show,
David Waldman definitely did not have an easy fast on Yom Kippur, but lives to tell about it, and answers your questions on spirituality, Judaism & child rearing.
Joan McCarter makes a surprise visit on her way to Asheville for the Daily Kos Connects meet-up & seminar. Check out the table of events, and stop by! Then
Armando makes his surprise visit! A broad discussion touches on just about everything, but mostly about the continuing problems some black activists are having reaching understanding with some Sanders supporters. And Ben Carson is second place in many Republican polls. Did anyone expect that? Did he? Who is this guy, anyway?
