From the moment that the Republican presidential contenders took the stage—or, more accurately, attempted to take the stage—for their final pre-New Hampshire debate last Saturday night, it was clear that the GOP was in trouble (with a capital "T").
The establishment's would-be savior, Marco Rubio, immediately dispelled with the notion (perpetuated by the "liberal media") that he's a strong candidate.
And then, much to Chris Christie's (and the internet's) delight, he dispelled with it again ... and again ... and again.
And once more for good measure.
When all was said and done, Rubio had thoroughly dispelled with the notion—and, in the process, thoroughly discredited himself.
The next day, his campaign tried to (literally) tackle their growing "robot problem" head-on, to no avail.
In fact, they probably made the situation worse.
After finishing a disappointing (though not at all surprising) 5th place in the New Hampshire primary, a contrite Rubio promised his supporters that he'd never again embarrass them—but, given his history, it seems likely that he'll repeat himself (again).

Donald Trump's campaign spokesperson argued that the Founding Fathers frequently called each other "pussy" ... or something.
Katrina Pierson, spokesperson for Donald Trump's presidential campaign, argued on Tuesday that saying the word "p*ssy" at a recent campaign event put her boss in the same category as America's Founding Fathers. [...]
Pierson told CNN host Alisyn Camerota on Tuesday that Trump's style was talking to his supporters "like he's at a friend's house."
"When we look at the Founding Fathers and when they were competing, they said far worse things about each other," Pierson insisted. "This is not nothing [sic] new. This is politics."
But...
Just a few days later, her boss surrendered to political correctness.
Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) on Thursday criticized the foul language their rival Donald Trump has used on the campaign trail during their respective stops in South Carolina.
The subject of Trump's choice words came up after MSNBC aired video of a focus group of South Carolina voters viscerally reacting to Trump saying things like, "We're going to knock the shit out of ISIS" and "You can tell them to go fuck themselves!" [...]
Trump promised rally attendees Thursday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that he'd stop using foul language.
"Even if it's not a bad word, if it's a little bit off, they kill me, so I won't do it. I'll never do it again," he told the noisy crowd.
And, in other news...
The Cruz campaign was caught with their pants down.
Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) presidential campaign has taken down a campaign ad that featured a porn star, BuzzFeed News reported Thursday.
The ad captured by Buzzfeed showed a group of people attending a therapy session because they were displeased with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)'s stances on issues like immigration. Among the actors was Amy Lindsay, whom BuzzFeed reported had starred in a number of softcore porn films. [...]
"The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job," [Cruz campaign spokesman Rick] Tyler told the news site. "Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad."
End of transmission.
