White supremacists are super excited about Donald Trump’s candidacy, and they are putting their money where their mouths are, with a pro-Trump white nationalist Super PAC making robocalls to early primary states. They think Trump really has the potential to promote their ideas:
William Daniel Johnson has a vision for America. The Los Angeles-based lawyer thinks that the United States will see the creation of a white ethno-state within his lifetime.
“I think Trump’s candidacy is helping move us in that direction,” Johnson said in a Monday phone interview with TPM. “Whether he is elected or not, his candidacy is a big factor in helping destroy this middle-of-the-road Republican mindset.”
Then there’s Jared Taylor, spokesman for the Council of Concerned Citizens, the group recently best known for having inspired Charleston shooter Dylann Roof:
In a Monday phone interview with TPM, Taylor called Trump “the first candidate in many, many years to take positions that may in fact be beneficial to the white majority.”
“Most white people, whether they say so or not, would prefer to live in a majority white neighborhood, in a majority white country but they’re too terrified to say it,” Taylor continued. “And the idea of restricting immigration and sending back illegal immigrants is very encouraging to such people.”
Trump’s campaign is conspicuously not disavowing all this white supremacist support.
