Governor Rick Snyder of MI might not have thought through his recent decision to move from his house in an exclusive gated community on the north side of Ann Arbor to a downtown condo. There’s been a tradition of picketing his house and his public appearances; under the circumstances, there’s more reason than ever to raise a ruckus wherever he goes.
Please see the story image above and do your best to attend. I’ll be there, wearing a bright blue coat and hat, and carrying a sign of some sort. Let’s hope there are so many people in attendance that we won’t be able to spot fellow Kossacks without having a pre-arranged signal. (Feel free, of course, to say in the comments or in a Kosmail that you plan to be there if you’d like to try to meet.)
Between now and next Monday, there is one other important water-related event.
These are linked catastrophes, as the panelists will explain with care and thoroughness. For a more detailed Teach-In agenda, please click here.
A week after the Teach-In, there will be a People’s Tribunal to which the public is welcome.
The track records of these three men (Snyder; former Emergency Manager for Detroit, Kevyn Orr; current Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan) will be reviewed in a public forum. It may be a while before we get to see any of them in an official courtroom, though Snyder may face civil charges related to the Flint water debacle sooner than later. In the meantime, it may provide focus for our organizing energy to discuss the full, and still growing, list of their crimes.
If you are so inclined, you can also help the people of Flint in other ways. (Thanks to our own Hector Solon for the great tweet.)
That’s not all the SE MI news that’s relevant to MI Kossacks, however. Courtesy of our local member, 2thanks, we have a mini-meetup in the works for Monday, 1/18, at the Detroit Institute of Arts:
Please contact 2thanks for more information. Here’s a link to an extended comment by him too about the meetup.
