Stacey Dash is dumber in real life than the character she played in the film “Clueless.” In fact, she’s so clueless she could play both of the title characters if they ever remake Dumb and Dumber.
But seriously, this young lady is either thoroughly confused or is getting paid a whole lot of money by the suits at Fox News to say things about black people and black culture that racist white folks want to say publicly, but don’t dare because they don’t want the curtains pulled back on their racism—although these days, that seems to be the “in” thing among GOP presidential candidates.
As for Ms. Dash, she seems to be Fox News’ designated Negro to trot out and spout the “white perspective” in black face every time there’s something controversial in the news relating African Americans. This time it’s the planned boycott of the Academy Awards due to the lack of diversity among the nominees.
In her appearance on Fox and Friends, the Clueless One had the nerve to say:
“And if we don't want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards where you're only awarded if you're black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It's a double standard. There shouldn't be a Black History Month. You know? We're Americans. Period. That's it.”
Spoken like a true Daughter of the Confederacy or someone getting paid big bucks by Fox News to say what Roger Ailes wants her to say.
Apparently young Stacey isn’t old enough to remember the origins of BET or the NAACP Image Awards or even historical black colleges and universities. It was because black people were segregated and not allowed equal access. Those institutions were formed so blacks could have avenues to be recognized and receive higher education. Sadly, the snubs of black performers, writers and directors during the 2016 Academy Awards remind us that BET, NAACP and Soul Train Awards are still unfortunately necessary.
And by the way, several non-black people are routinely nominated and/or honored on those so-called “black” awards shows. Examples: Bryce Dallas Harper, Angelina Jolie and Sandra Bullock were all nominated for NAACP Image Awards; and Eminem, Justin Timberlake and Sam Smith were nominated for BET Awards. So, Stacey Dash and Donald Trump are clearly wrong about whites not getting nominated for these awards. It sounds good on Fox News, but it’s not true.
At the end of the day, there were some fantastic films and performances by blacks who in my opinion should’ve at least been nominated for Oscars in 2016: Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler for their work in Creed and damn near everybody involved in Straight Outta Compton. But dig this, the only person nominated for Creed is Sylvester Stallone and the only Oscar winners from D’Jango Unchained were Christoph Waltz and Quentin Tarantino—all deserving, all very talented but all white.
I don’t know Ms. Dash or Mr. Trump or you guys on Fox and Friends, is all this coincidental? But no worries, I’m confident Jordan, Coogler and the makers of Straight Outta Compton will get the recognition they justly deserve on the BET Awards or NAACP Image Awards, not because they choose to be segregated like that...but because they were relegated like that.
