Analysis of The Russians are Coming
The trailer without analysis
I read the Guardian and HuffingtonPost more for the laughs I get these days, than the news they provide. Their are occasions where real news comes through though, but even that provides a chuckle. Like this headline: Sanders smeared as communist sympathiser as Clinton allies sling mud
Attacks on Bernie Sanders by rival Democrats are likely to turn increasingly to his record on the economy and foreign affairs, according to a new dossier seen by the Guardian that accuses him of sympathising with communists and “not believing in capitalism”.
snip
On Thursday, Sanders aides accused David Brock, a political operative who runs a Super Pac set up to defend Clinton, of “mudslinging” after he claimed Sanders was acting as if “black lives don’t matter” in a new campaign ad.
Some “Democrat” slipped the Guardian a dossier:
The dossier, prepared by opponents of Sanders and passed on to the Guardian by a source who would only agree to be identified as “a Democrat”, alleges that Sanders “sympathized with the USSR during the Cold War” because he went on a trip there to visit a twinned city while he was mayor of Burlington.
Similar “associations with communism” in Cuba are catalogued alongside a list of quotes about countries ranging from China to Nicaragua in a way that supporters regard as bordering on the McCarthyite rather than fairly reflecting his views.
UNFUCKING AMAZING is all I can say.
Well actually I can say more. One, the Guardian, unlike the Burlington Free Press, has an ethics problem. Letting itself be used as part of a whisper campaign.
Two, I went to the Soviet Union back in 1987, about the same time as Bernie did. It was for a class on Russia/USSR. As memory serves me, they had this new leader called Miikhail Gorbachev who had instituted two new reform packages, Perestroika (political reforms) and Glasnost (social and economic reforms).
This wasn’t the time of Stalin or even Brezhnev, and all the mud, and shit slingers, know this. Obviously, they don’t care about such facts. There just hoping a lot of low information voters won't know or remember theses facts.
And then they raise Nicaragua. Well, I remember that part of history as well. Unless Hillary Land is now claiming to love the Contras, this is a real weird line of attack. US intervention was a huge issue on college campuses in the day. My college town was a sanctuary city for people fleeing from Central America. We were very much opposed against supporting the Rightwing dictators of the region. The Sandinistas had their problems, but they could not come close to what was being done by the Contras and others. I also had a lot of friends who went down their on peace missions. All I can say is they didn’t fear the Sandinistas but they were scared shitless about the Contras.
Red bait all you want Camp Clinton. But to Camp Clinton and here supporters remember this. You are sowing the seeds of a Bernie victory. The voters are angry, and more and more of them are waking up to the fact that unfettered capitalism is the cause of their problems not a defunct empire called the USSR. And they know that the commies are not coming to get them.

This diary is about two things. One that the Guardian has just noticed the mud slinging by Camp Clinton. Two, that Camp Clinton would think it would work. I think the attacks are weak tea, and give persona examples of why.
