Although the National Rifle Association was waiting to see the specifics of President Obama's executive actions promoting gun safety, none of that moderation was necessary for GOP politicians. Donald Trump wasted no time in trotting out the worst fear of every gun owner in America.
“Well pretty soon, you won’t be able to get guns. I mean, it’s another step in the way of not getting guns,” the Republican presidential candidate told CNN’s “New Day.”
The GOP's golden boy in the House promised a revolt.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, while acknowledging that the details of the plan are still under wraps, said in a statement Monday that Obama is "at minimum subverting the legislative branch, and potentially overturning its will." [...]
"This is a dangerous level of executive overreach, and the country will not stand for it."
Too bad Ryan didn't even know what was in the plan yet.
Chris Christie accused the president of being "a petulant child."
"The American people have rejected his agenda by turning both the House and the Senate over to the Republicans, and going from 21 governors when he came into office, to 31 Republican governors now. Now this president wants to act as if he is a king, as if he is a dictator," Christie told Fox News' Chris Wallace.
Well, sort of rejected—except for that little reelection hiccup in 2012.
Can't wait to see what Republicans drag out once they actually know what's in the proposal.
