Today, Koch owned Gov. Doug Ducey, appointed the lead litigator for the Libertarian Goldwater Institute to a vacancy on the AZ Supreme Court. He had nine candidates to choose from. Seven have judicial experience. Bolick has none.
Unless you’re unusually familiar with libertarian legal activists (or you are a Republican presidential candidate) you probably have never heard the name “Clint Bolick.” But Mr. Bolick has spent the last quarter century working — at times quite successfully — to make the law more friendly to anti-government conservatives. Thanks to an appointment, announced Wednesday by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R), Bolick will now bring this agenda to his state’s supreme court.

Bolick is a big charter school proponent and is responsible for the Ohio Supreme Court upholding the constitutionality of school vouchers in 2008.
Likewise, Bolick is a huge supporter (with a professional interest) in charter schools. Strangely, or perhaps not so, while Bolick and the institute have argued often against perceived government secrecy and bureaucracy he is just fine with the way charter schools get to keep their books fairly secret and don’t have to follow many of the same financial and transparency guidelines of regular public schools. www.azcentral.com/...
Bolick was instrumental in allowing pedicurists in AZ to use live fish to eat the dead skin off customers’ feet. He fought against medicaid expansion, and pensions for public servants.
So bold is this news that Think Progress, and The Washington Post, picked up the news immediately. We in AZ know Clint Bolick and the Goldwater Institute well. He’s a judicial activist, and I’m sure that’s why the Kochs selected him, via their puppet Doug Ducey.
Bolick discusses his belief in judicial activism in this book talk.
And here’s a debate with Thom Hartman.
Too depressed to write more. AZ is a failed state.
