What a difference a day or two makes. South Dakota should be a safe haven for Republicans, in the bag. But “Then along came Trumpyyyyyy” (sorry, bad pun!), and now all bets are off. If an established GOP Senator like John Thune has to come out and directly denounce renounce Donald J. Trump, you know something is in the air. Smoke by the smell of it, and the wildfire is getting closer.
Thune has been a fixture for a long time. He served in the House from 1997-2003, and has been in the Senate since 2005. He has had a long career of sucking us dry while providing nothing useful in return. He’s not that old, he can learn to drive a truck, or sole a shoe, time for him to go.
Give me Jay Williams in a heartbeat instead. He was born and raised in South Dakota, and after high school he earned a Navy scholarship to go to the University of Wisconsin. He served on a warhip off the coast of Vietnam during the war, so he knows pressure. He was a search and rescue helicopter pilot in Italy and Virginia for the Navy, so he has leadership skills. He’s solid. After his time in the Navy, he and his wife Carol volunteered for the Peace Corps, being sent to Colombia, so they know how it is in the real world. After his service he got a Masters in computer technology, and after working in high tech in Texas and California, they went back home to South Dakota and started a small, but successful business. So Jay knows a little bit about the practical end of business.
Jay Williams is strong on all the right issues. He wants to fix income inequality, raise the tax cap for social security taxes, deal effectively with climate change, he supports a woman’s right to choose, universal background checks on guns, strong Native American rights , raising the minimum wage, and protecting the Affordable Care Act. The list goes on and on. Oh yeah, and he is listed on 90for90.org. The boxes are checked.
Look guys and girls, this is by no means a “normal” election cycle. The Orange Julius has thrown the book out of the window, everything is up for grabs. We can do this. We need to motivate, register and GOTV. And we need to show Jay Williams some Kossack love. If you want to help in the easiest way possible, Tweet or Facebook share this. It doesn’t cost a dime, but it can make all the difference in the world in getting his name out there!
