This is my response to Trump and the way he sees women – the video “Dear Daddy”.
It's an unborn daughter's plea for her father to stand up to the likes of Donald Trump – and all their enablers.
We should condemn Trump's bragging about sexual assault and his excuses for it – “locker room talk” – in the strongest possible way. He is a miserable excuse for a man.
But it's the enablers of sexual abuse that give a green light to Trump and his like to think its okay to kiss, fondle, grope and grab a woman without her consent, as a simple matter of male privilege and power. “Men” like Rudolph Guiliani who claim: ”The fact is men talk like that. Not all men, but men do”.
Well I don't talk or act like that – and I refuse to accept any man who does. It's time for men – real men – to stand together and say: “This is not acceptable. I will not tolerate these words or this behavior toward women. These are our wives, our girlfriends, our mothers, our sisters, our daughters and our friends – and you do not have the right to abuse them.”
The video was made in Sweden, my wife's niece was the editor and I know the cameraman as well. It was done for Care Norway. It's been viewed over 10 million times on this link alone (there are many duplicate links in various languages).
But if you glance through any of the 14,000 comments below the video, you'll see the anger some young men hold against women, spouting the kind of vile and violently sexist language promoted by Donald Trump and other grown-ups supporting him.
