OK, so there we go. Three debates, three clear victories. Why? Donald Trump, Republican nominee has proved himself to be exactly the guy we think he is: Mentally unstable, unqualified, bigoted and ego-maniacal. And he’ll lose the election.
He vomited on himself. He “Alec-Baldwined.” He interrupted. He choked. He lied. Oh — and he became the first Presidential candidate in history from a major political party to refuse to say he would unconditionally accept the results of the election. There is that.
And he went up against the single most prepared, most qualified human being to ever run for President. Ever.
So we’ll get out and vote her in, by lots, right?
That’s just not good enough.
Hillary doesn’t just deserve to win, she deserves to win a true landslide. This is one time when a woman shouldn’t have to break the glass ceiling by dancing backwards in high heels. She deserves a clear victory. This shouldn’t even be a contest. She deserves all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
But that’s still not good enough. I hate to break it to all of the shocked Republicans, but Donald Trump didn’t take over your party. You nominated him. And your voters picked him because they feel comfortable with your party’s culture that has stoked all the hot button cultural bigotry that got him that nomination. And then you dived in and went along with it.
So the Republican party needs to lose. They need to be impeached, they need a lesson in what democracy is. The GOP gave us Donald Trump. And they need to learn to never, ever play their bigoted, cynical cultural division game again. It’s not good enough for them to demure and say they don't agree with Trump about his “rigged” election ideas. It’s not acceptable to kind of jump ship after being in the engine room stoking the coal fire.
Where were the Republicans when Donald Trump was attacking women, or immigrants, or Muslims, or democracy? I’ll tell you where they were: Cowering in a corner, now the victimized bitches of the lunatics they invited into their supposed “big tent” in the first place.
No, no, no — a landslide at the top of the ticket is necessary, but not good enough. We need a landslide that wipes ‘em out down the whole ballot.
I’m sure intellectual conservatism will survive and return. It’s important to have two vibrant sides to our democracy — that’s why it works. But not this election day. The need to have the Republicans learn this very important lesson is just too important.
Time to impeach the GOP.
