According to the media Hillary is all but elected. I just saw a woman talk about Hillary’s policies and appointments as if they were fait accompli. Another described the media onslaught against Trump as a media maelstrom. And jet, according to both Nate Silver and RCP if the election were held today Trump would garner 205 electoral votes, Map with no toss up. That is exactly the number of electoral votes that Mitt Romney won in 2012, and many media pundits have said that Trump would not end up losing if he had run his campaign like him. So why are we so quick to dismiss Donald Trump. I have said and I will continue to say that this election is not about the man, he is the very definition of a deplorable, but it is a rage against the system.
I just finished reading an email from Michael Moore where he talks about talking to disaffected voters and how dedicated Trump supporters are. A couple of days ago I was watching a Trump speech and I saw a woman break down and cry when he mention that he might just end up losing. And I’ve known friends who describe their parents more agitated about this election than they are, and it is usually the other way around the kids are the political radicals. And I’ve seen this enthusiasm personally, when I went to a Bernie meeting right before the Texas democratic convention and the members there had to basically sign in blood that they would not end up supporting Hillary if they ever ended up going to the National convention. It was Bernie or bust. I knew that most, like me, would end up at least voting for her. By then I saw that she was most likely going to be the candidate although I still hoped. Many of the people that support Trump are doing so because they feel that the system is against them so they are out to destroy it.
So I know that Trump has the popular wind behind him, while Hillary has the millions and a well oiled political machine. Right now I am not saying that Hillary cannot win but anybody that says that this is a done deal is just burying their heads in the sand. In fact Michael Moore says that that is one of the ways that we could end up losing, we could get too complacent. But I AM saying that even today we could end up with a Trump presidency. According to RCP Hillary leads by 3% or less in three states: AZ, NC, and Fl. together these states with the ones where he leads they would give him 260. NV, Pa, Co, Me, NH have been states where Hillary polls around 5% and where he has either led or she has gone down to the a couple of points in just the last month. And it seems that every time that there is a Trump scandal, the Kahns, first debate, the sex scandal, his numbers drop only to start creeping up. And we have more than two weeks till the election.
In my opinion we have to give him a grace 2% for his political momentum that places him basically at the 260 line and we have to make sure that none of the firewall states, the second set of states fall too far bellow 5% then Hillary will most likely win. These second tier states is where the Hillary campaign needs to spend the next two weeks campaigning incessantly I would also recommend change in the Hillary campaign, not so much more progressive but more personable but I feel that that is a little too late. Other than that I feel that it is all in the hands of the creator, so Please excuse me if I cringe in anticipation as I await the results. And I do not see how Hillary and in fact the democratic party as a whole can not feel deeply insulted when a walking piece of excrement ends up maybe not beating us but giving us a very slight win. What does that make us?
