Want to find out what folks in the black community are talking about? Step into a barbershop or a beauty parlor. One of the oldest institutions in our community is often overlooked by outsiders. When people talk about us gathering — they usually mention our churches, or our schools. If you really want to get the buzz, or to spread the word, head straight to a barbershop or hair salon.
The Hillary Clinton campaign has just released an ad, “Barbershop,” that captures the conversations that take place in these businesses daily, in every black community across the U.S.
“Let’s go Hillary...that’s my opinion” says a customer. Another says, “Her resume speaks for itself.” The barber responds, "She definitely has the experience in office."
The scene shifts to women in a beauty parlor, where a young woman says, “All the respect she gives to every individual ...that's what I appreciate from Hillary Clinton.”
The ad cuts back to the barbershop, The young man in the chair says, “If Obama’s voting for Hillary, I’m voting for Hillary,” and an older gentleman says forcefully, “A non vote is definitely a vote for Trump.”
GOTV.
