Here's what the Senate race in New York looks like:
Chuck Schumer has had a roughly 40-point lead for the entire race, and yet he's spending at least $7 million out of his hefty $20 million war chest running ads about things like guitar strings. While has has a 40-point lead. Meanwhile, in Florida:
[Marco] Rubio and outside groups supporting him spent $18.8 million in television ads in October, compared to $8.7 million by [Patrick] Murphy and outside groups supporting him, according to Ashley Walker, who runs the Murphy super PAC. Rubio and his allies have $4.7 million in ads reserved for the final week of the race, compared to $3.3 million in ads reserved by Murphy and the PAC supporting him.
There's less than a 5-point spread in Daily Kos's polling aggregate in this race. It's that close. And Rubio is $10 million ahead in television ads.
Sen. Schumer, why are you running ads about guitar strings in New York where you are blowing out your opponent instead of sending your money to Florida? Why? You could end Rubio's political career and start Murphy's. You could increase the Democratic Senate majority. You could ensure that a President Clinton could make Supreme Court appointments.
Guitar strings?
