Senator Kaine / Warner:
Let's face it: Tuesday was a catastrophe. Going forward, the Democratic party must serve not only as a loyal opposition, but as a credible loyal opposition. I do not see how that is possible with Senator Schumer as Minority Leader.
I write this with awareness of and respect for his service to the party. Nonetheless, Sen. Schumer's close ties to Wall St represent exactly what most turns off voters about Democrats.
At another time, Senator Schumer might well have made an ideal Minority Leader. Unless the goal is to be completely tone deaf, this is not that time. Please urge him to step down. As for an alternative, the answer is easy: Anyone.
Thank you for your consideration,
