This was buried in my response to the long diary on the Hamilton story, but I’m genuinely curious and figure someone might know. Those seats Pence and his family had are really expensive — face price is $849 each (plus Ticketmaster fees bring the price up to close to $1000). Pence is not wealthy, and the salary for the Indiana governor is only $112,000 a year. If he didn’t pay himself, what are the rules on declaring gifts if someone else paid for it? The gift rule in Indiana seems strict but also vague.
