When I see this email headline:
We’ve FAILED! (it’s over)
My first thought is: then why should I bother to vote?
After opening the email I discover that what they failed to do was meet their fund raising goal. And headlines like that do nothing to convince me to dig deep.
Want me to help fund your candidate/partisan group/committee? Then instead of hammering us with woe is us headlines about how bad things are, try something more upbeat. Like how well your candidate is doing, or how your group/committee is putting up ads hitting Rs in selected areas and you want to expand that effort into other areas/other Rs. I would be more inclined to give if I thought my money was going to do some actual good, rather than meeting some arbitrary goal. I have no interest in contributing to your “war chest”, but I will give to your proposed ad buy campaign.
