Death by a Thousand Cuts
If North Dakota didn’t have such an awful reputation for not enforcing its environmental regulations in the Oil Patch, maybe we wouldn’t have a few thousand people camped out along the Cannonball River protesting the mother of all North Dakota pipelines, Dakota Access.
Information presented in this article is North Dakota-specific but I bet any oil producing or oil transporting state could show a similar history of lax enforcement.
We hear of just a fraction of incidents either because a citizen discovered them or they’re too big to hide. Remediation is slap dash at best.
No DAPL. No more pipelines. Leave it in the ground.
